People often ask us about the best age for their children to start having eye exams. We recommend that a child's first exam happen between 6 and 12month of age, and then every two years after that, as a rule of thumb. The child's returning visits will depend on their individual need and development track. Vision development happens early, so detecting threats to normal vision during those first months and years can eliminate many vision and learning problems later.  Some problems are difficult, if not impossible to fix as the child matures and leaves the developmental stage behind.

And if you didn't have your baby checked before the age of one?  Call your eye doctor today.  With a child's vision, it is always the sooner, the better.
