Starting Feb. 7th, all Crizal lenses will now have added UV protection!

We all know how damaging the sun's UV rays can be to our skin, it is just as damaging to our eyes! There's good news, soon all Crizal lenses will have the added protection of UV. Traditionally, if you have had regular plastic lenses, even with Anti-glare, they did not include UV protection. High index materials such as polycarbonate or High-index do have UV protection built into them, but it has been discovered that UV can still bounce off of lenses and be directed back towards the eye. Essilor, the makers of Crizal Anti-glare have recently added a new SPF rating for eyes. E-SPF (eye sun protection factor) is going to add more UV protection to lenses as they will take care of the UV that is not coming through the front of your lenses, but what is being reflected off the sides and back of lenses and being reflected back into the eye. All of our patients leave our optical with Crizal Anti-glare lenses and now they will have the added protection of E-SPF on their lenses.
